Mum was down with a slight stroke. She’s the only breadwinner in the house, since
Dad’s kidney failed. Now that she’s ill. But what can I do? I’m jus a kitty in her house.
She has 2 children.. 2 unfilial ones.. Amy’s 20 and Andrew’s 22.. They should be old enough to think. But they didn’t. There’s one incident I remembered.. Mum was lying on bed, very ill. And her medicine had finished. It’s time for appointment. Amy was at home. Taking care of Mum. But instead of bringing Mum to visit the doctor, she said, “Ma.. Don’t see doctor today. It’s a waste of money. And you’re not recovering.” Andrew was ok.. But didn’t take care of Mum when she’s ill. He didn’t do his part. Mum has an uncle, in his 70s.. Staying together with them. He’s old.. All this while, Mum is the only one taking care of him.
Mum had been thinking a lot since she’s ill.. She thought of the financial difficulties.. She thought of the old uncle.. She thought of the children who break her heart.. And her husband… She also couldn’t accept the fact that she’s ill.. She then suffered from depression.. Severe depression.. She was admitted to Institute Of Mental Health for a few months until she’s more stable. She is then sent home. Back home, Mum thinks she’s a burden to all and had decided to end her life though Amy’s is getting married at year-end. She wrote a letter to Amy. It says, “Amy.. Continue with the marriage. Don’t let my death affect it.” Mum left it at her desk and left home. Old uncle tried to stop Mum. Because he’s old and couldn’t control his bladder, he peed. Mum lied to Old uncle, “Uncle, I won’t go out, I promise. You go change your pants. It’s not nice if neighbours see your pants wet.” Uncle believed Mum. Went back to have his pants changed. However, Mum went upstairs to the 7th level. Andrew saw and chase after her. But was too late… Mum jumped. She died. This may sound like a serial show story line. But it’s a true story. Mum is my mother’s customer. Amy n Andrew are made up names for the characters. Ma jus came back from her wake. She told mi the story.. I sympathize her.. Life had been hard on her. Haiz.. After hearing her story, my heart sank! I really feel fortunate having a nice family and great friends. I do cherish you~
